Could the Synapse Carbon Ultegra be the best value in a lightweight endurance road bicycle? Read further and learn more...

The Syanpse Carbon was developed to be a brilliant machine for long -like, really long- days in the saddle. Rough tarmac, endless hills and rainy weather can make any rider take shortcuts just to get home and dry. But Cannondale wanted to produce a bicycle that coddled the rider, allowing them to ride further and attack hills that they would have dreaded on a lesser machine. The Synapse Carbon is built around a smooth-riding platform with an upright posture. That geometry and fit allows a wider range of riders (and rider flexibilities) to get comfortable over long days in the saddle. The Syanpse Carbon's long wheelbase and relaxed geometry doesn't mean it handles like an artichoke in the twisites, though. Cornering and descending feels confident and sure-footed, making one of the best parts of cycling more enjoyable.

Cannondale's BallisTec carbon fiber is used throughout the frame and fork, keeping weight very low while enhancing ride quality with Synapse Active Vibration Elimination, or SAVE. By using different qualities of carbon fiber in the right places in the frame, Cannondale was able to improve the ride quality when tackling rough and choppy pavement. The torsional strength is still there, thanks to details like a BB30a press-fit bottom bracket that anchors the crankset for flex-free power delivery. 12mm thru-axle dropouts not only ensure perfect wheel alignment, but also add to the torsional strength of the frame improving handling. Internal cable routing keeps the Syanapse Carbon looking clean. Even the integrated seatpost clamp is tucked away under the top tube for a sleek look.

Shimano's 11-speed Ultegra components aren't just for the go-fast crowd. The 11-speed Ultegra lineup also boasts long service life and smooth operation over years of use. The new Ultegra levers feature an adjustable reach for smaller hands and a new hood texture for better grip. The front derailleur is a new toggle-pivot design that requires less hand stength to operate. Out back, the rear derailleur takes a page from Shimano's mountain bike division with a Shadow-style profile that also makes gear changes easier on the hands. The largest cog useable with the rear derailleur goes up to 34T (!!). Hydraulic disc brakes are the new standard in road bike technology, and Shimano leads the way. Ultegra hydraulic units front and rear clamp down on 160mm rotors, ensuing excellent stopping power in all conditions, rain or shine. An alloy Cannondale Si 50/34T compact crankset and 11-34T Shimano 105 cassette bring a huge gearing range to the party, making any ascent that much easier. Fulcrum Racing's alloy 600DB wheels are wrapped with 700x30c Vittoria Rubino Pro Bright Black tires, providing easy acceleration and a smooth feel. A Fabric Scoop Shallow Sport saddle sits atop an alloy Cannondal seatpost, while an alloy Cannondale 3 stem and road handlebar complete this excellent value in a long-distance achiever.
